Court Reporters
Description
Court reporters record what everyone says in a courtroom or at a legal event. Most court reporters use a special machine called a stenotype. A stenotype machine prints symbols on paper and records the symbols on a computer disk. A computer then translates the symbols into English. Court reporters must be fast and accurate with their recordings.
Working Conditions
Many court reporters work part time. Some are also self-employed.

Average annual salary for court reporters is around $54,000.
